Founders Bio’s – The First Chapter
“I would rather walk with a friend in the dark, than alone in the light.” Helen Keller
Jacob Jansen
Owner / Executive Director
Jacob Jansen is a person in long-term recovery with a passion for creating change and better resources within the recovery industry. After getting clean in 2010 from decades of hard drug abuse, Jacob found a passion for helping people find their path to recovery. In 2011 Jacob started My Recovery Project which focuses on interventions, recovery coaching, a web radio show and public speaking while simultaneously going back to UW Milwaukee and graduating with a Business Administration degree in 2012. Through My Recovery Project, he has been able to help hundreds of individuals find a personalized path to recovery. In 2015 Jacob started Addiction Recovery Environment Homes LLC, the first freestanding sober homes for women in Waukesha, WI, promoting individualized choice and support in beautiful homes. From 2017 to 2019 Jacob became a Community Based Residential Facility (CBRF) adminstrator and built The Ladders Recovery Community, a multi-million dollar, 30 bed treatment facility in Oconomowoc, WI which was the first CBRF in a commercial property in WI. After the board of directors released Jacob without cause, one week after open, Jacob found the good in a very difficult situation.
With the temporary loss of a dream, Jacob refocused his energy and saw a need for better substance use disorder education in the community. In March of 2020, Jacob and Douglas formed Turning The Page. In June of 2022 Jacob was Pardoned by Tony Evers and the state of Wisconsin for his past possession drug charge. Jacob’s education around substance use disorder treatment and personal experience, combined with a passion for speaking and helping others, has been instrumental in developing the company. “I am truly excited to be a part of Turning the Page and share my story of connection, strength and hope”.

Douglas Darby
Owner / Marketing Director
Douglas Darby is a survivor in long-term recovery, committed to igniting the very spark in a person that will help change the world we live in. In 2013, Douglas co-founded Rise Together; a program that has a mission to create communities where today’s youth can be heard, loved, and inspired to live in hope. Now a distinguished motivational speaker, he has educated over 160,000 people across the nation.
After parting ways with Rise Together, Douglas found a new business partnership, and more importantly a new friendship in Jacob Jansen. Together they established Turning the Page in June of 2020, with the mission to bring different educational programs into mental health, substance use disorders, behavioral change, connection and hope.
Douglas speaks out with passion, heart, and a powerful deliverance of redemption that not only motivates people across the nation but also has helped to save the lives of our community’s youth. By going out and asking the youth what they need most he has been able to not only relate but connect with the youth of today. Taking on the real understanding that programs do not fix communities but relationships do.
